The Impact of Menopause on Women’s Oral Health

October is Menopause Awareness Month, an opportunity to promote education and support open discussion about menopause. Menopause presents a range of oral health challenges that dentists should be aware of—from dry mouth and burning mouth syndrome to changes in periodontal health and bone density.

In this episode of CDA Oasis, Dr. Jessica Metcalfe, a general dentist and strategic leadership and workplace consultant from Victoria, British Columbia, discusses the relationship between menopause and oral health. She highlights the signs and symptoms dentists can look for and outlines practical strategies for managing oral health concerns during and after menopause.
