Endodontist, Winnipeg MA
In response to feedback and questions on his presentation back in October, Dr. Rodrigo Cunha returns to CDA Oasis Live to take a deeper dive into the use of antibiotics for endodontic patients.
In conversation with Dr. John O’Keefe, Director of Knowledge Networks CDA, Dr. Cunha sharpens the focus by addressing three key questions:
- When should antibiotics be used?
- What are the first-choice antibiotics for endodontic patients?
- How long should a course of antibiotics last?
Citing 2017 guidelines from the American Association of Endodontists on the use of systemic antibiotics in endodontics, Dr. Cunha highlights the specific instances where antibiotic prescription is appropriate, he explains why amoxycillin is his antibiotic of choice, and details best practice protocols with regards to duration of prescription.
We hope you find the conversation useful. We welcome your thoughts, questions and/or suggestions about this post and other topics. Leave a comment in the box below or send us your feedback by email.
Until next time!
