Personal Wellbeing Supporting Your Practice

CDSPI Members’ Assistance Program – Here for You

Most Canadians have been impacted by mental illness. In fact, in any given year, one in five Canadians will experience a mental health challenge or illness, and dental professionals are no exception. Today, we’re are talking about the importance of mental health and wellness more than ever. And to help dental professionals tackle a range of mental health, emotional, and physical wellness challenges, CDSPI is offering the Members’ Assistance Program or MAP.

We sat down with CDSPI financial advisor, Dana Scott to discuss the MAP program’s confidential and free services, including how dentists can benefit from support with everything from accessing diet and exercise programs, to addiction services, crisis support, and counselling.

During this conversation, Dana talks about MAP services, including:

  • Short-term counselling
  • Crisis support and response
  • Professional referrals and resources for physical and mental wellbeing
  • MAP services for students
  • Support finding childcare services and senior’s facilities
  • Legal and financial advice
  • Career support
  • Smoking cessation
  • The MAP iPhone and Android app

How to access MAP and learn more

MAP is available to dental professionals 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The Program provides confidential, no cost support and advice for dentists, dental staff and their immediate family members. MAP services are offered through Shepell, Canada’s largest provider of Employee and Family Assistance Programs.
