Highlights

Dr. Amarjit Rihal, organizer of the R.I.D.E. Winnipeg event speaks to Dr. John O’Keefe in this video about this charity bike ride. The R.I.D.E. or “Respecting Individual Differences in Everyone” cycling event supports the organization AboutFace, a national organization which supports, encourages and provides resources to individuals (and families) with facial differences (www.aboutface.ca).

There are ~15,000 babies born annually with facial differences and it is estimated that ~50,000 individuals will acquire a facial difference yearly through accidents, trauma and cancer. Of these individuals, many may develop mental health issues as a result of their facial difference(s).

The event takes place in Winnipeg on Sunday, September 11, 2016 from 9am-12pm at St. Vital Park. Participants from across the country are more than welcome to join the event or sponsor or donate to this very worthy cause. Additional information is available at the following link. http://www.aboutface.ca/events/r-i-d-e-winnipeg-a-charity-cycling-event/

There are several other ways in which individuals can support and fundraise for AboutFace including:

  • Monetary donations which support Camp Trailblazers, bursary programs and adult retreats
  • Volunteerism
  • Hosting a charitable event like “Dinners for 100,000 Dreams”
