Benefits of Antibiotics for Dental Implant Placement
The findings of a new systematic review by the Cochrane Oral Health Group suggest that people given antibiotics before having dental implants placed have a reduced risk of implant failure. The study found that 2 or 3 grams of amoxicillin given orally, as a single administration, 1 hour before placement of dental implants reduces implant failures.

New Resources for Providing Care to Older Adults
Researchers and community partners, led by a team from Dalhousie University, have developed new resources to promote optimal oral care in long-term care (LTC) and home care settings. As previously reported in JCDA, the Brushing Up on Mouth Care project resources can be used to educate staff working in continuing care settings.
