Oasis Help
Oasis Discussions
We would like to sincerely thank all dentists who submitted their clinical questions through our Oasis Discussions site and/or through email (oasisdiscussions@cda-adc.ca). Every question is important to us and we strive to quickly find an expert initial response that will help dentists in their everyday practice.
We are pleased to bring to you the first Oasis Discussions contribution of the Department of Pediatric Dentistry at the University of Toronto. More details in the Oasis Discussions section of this bulletin.
Note on process regarding your clinical questions
Once you send us your clinical question, you will receive an acknowledgement email. Then, a number of our expert clinical advisors are contacted to provide an initial response with possible further in-depth resources. Once a response is available, the JCDA Oasis Team posts it on the Oasis Discussions website. You will then be notified that a response to your question is available for viewing. All questions and responses are featured in the weekly JCDA Oasis Bulletin.
Please note, that you are welcome to submit your question anonymously; however, it will be difficult for us to notify you, when a response is available. You can always send your question to cguessaier@cda-adc.ca and it will only be viewed by the JCDA Oasis team.

Oral Sciences Research Leads to Uterine Fibroid Treatment
Researchers from the department of applied oral sciences at Dalhousie University have developed a biomaterial to be used as an alternative to hysterectomy for women with uterine fibroids. The outpatient procedure, which should be available at the end of 2014, uses biocompatible glass beads to block blood flow to tumours and is expected to significantly improve recovery time, reduce the risks associated with treatment, and lower health care costs.
