Managing Emotional Contagion in the Dental Office

Emotional contagion is the unconscious process of mirroring or adopting the emotions, behaviours, or moods of others in a shared environment. In a high-pressure atmosphere such as a dental practice, understanding and addressing the impact of emotional contagion can be vital for fostering a positive environment and optimizing patient outcomes.

In this CDA Oasis discussion, Dr. Kristin Yont, general dentist and SMART-certified healthcare provider, shares her insights on how dental professionals can recognize, manage, and mitigate the effects of emotional contagion for the benefit of both staff and patients.

Dr. Yont will be running a Stress Management and Resiliency Training (SMART) program from Monday, March 16 to Monday, May 4. The eight-week program will help you develop self-care tools to manage stress and enhance wellness and quality of life.
