Opioids and Pain in Youth: A Toolkit is a recently published resource from Solutions for Kids in Pain (SKIP), a national knowledge mobilization network that shares evidence-based solutions for the medical use of opioids to address short and long-term pain in youth.
In this video discussion, Dr. Astha Shah, Health Policy Advisor and Scientific Editor at the Canadian Dental Association (CDA), explains why there is a need for such an initiative in Canada. She walks us through the toolkit, which includes a section dedicated to acute dental pain.
“When you have poorly managed pain in young children it can lead to significant developmental and functional impairment, which later in life can contribute to poor physical and mental health outcomes.”
