Using Artificial Intelligence to Identify Unknown Dental Implants

As more and more patients receive dental implants, which often require regular maintenance, one of the challenges for dentists is identifying the type of implant a patient has in their mouth.

In this video, Dr. Thomas Nguyen, an Assistant Professor at McGill Faculty of Dental Medicine and Oral Sciences, discusses his current research project involving the use of artificial intelligence to identify unknown dental implants.

“When you look at something like Facebook, it can recognize your face in milliseconds. I thought maybe there is something we can do with artificial intelligence to help clinicians identify dental implants.”
