ADA Publishes Clinical Practice Guideline for the Pharmacologic Management of Acute Dental Pain in Children

The Journal of the American Dental Association has published a new evidence-based clinical practice guideline for the pharmacologic management of acute dental pain in children.

The report was prepared by the American Dental Association Science and Research Institute, the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine, and the Center for Integrative Global Oral Health at the University of Pennsylvania.

In this video, Dr. Mark Donaldson, a Clinical Professor in the Department of Pharmacy, University of Montana in Missoula, explains the significance of this development for the dental profession and for public health. He highlights the key recommendations outlined in the report and explains what they mean for dentists in Canada.

Dr. Donaldson is also a Clinical Associate Professor in the School of Dentistry at the Oregon Health and Sciences University in Portland, Adjunct Professor at the Faculty of Dentistry at the University of British Columbia, and currently serves as an Associate Principal, Pharmacy Advisory Solutions at Vizient Inc.
