Introducing the Canadian Oral Health Screening Tool for Seniors

When it comes to oral health, seniors face a unique set of challenges which makes them more prone to decay, oral abnormalities, and loss of teeth.

In this video Dr. Christian Caron, Professor of Gerodontology at L’Université Laval, introduces the Canadian Oral Health Screening Tool for Seniors. The tool is a plain-language, evidence-based screening tool for use by non-dental professionals to assess oral abnormalities and the dysfunction of dental prostheses in seniors.

The tool is free of charge and was developed by Dr. Caron and his team at L’Université Laval, in conjunction with the Public Health Agency of Canada and under the direction of Dr. James Taylor, Chief Dental Officer of Canada.

Dr. Caron would also like to acknowledge contributions from Lisette Dufour, Senior Oral Health Advisor at Public Health Agency of Canada and Katherine Carbajal-Rosa, Research Assistant at L’Université Laval.
