How to Decontaminate an Implant Surface?

With the number of implant procedures increasing in an exponential manner, peri-implantitis is a growing concern for anyone involved in implant dentistry. In fact, accepted literature confirms that one in ten implants will, at some point, be affected. That translates to one in every five patients.

In this edition of Oasis Five Live, Dr. Vinay Bhide, Board Certified Specialist in Periodontics from Toronto, explains to John O’Keefe, Director of Knowledge Networks CDA, why, in his opinion, surface decontamination is the single most important step in treating peri-implantitis.

Using a recent case study to illustrate the argument, Dr. Bhide outlines the key steps in this procedure, explains why a titanium brush is a game changer, and discusses the  post-procedural prognosis.
