Getting to know the Canadian Association of Public Health Dentistry

The Canadian Association of Public Health Dentistry (CAPHD), is the national voice for dental public health. Today, we’re learning more about CAPHD as an organisation and what they’re working on with President, Dr. Mario Brondani. 

About Dr. Mario Brondani

Dr. Mario Brondani has over 20 years of experience as a dentist both in private practice and in community clinics. He completed his dental training at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul in Porto Alegre (Brazil) in 1994 and his MSc in Geriatrics at the Pontifical Catholic University in 2002 also in Porto Alegre. That same year, Dr. Brondani came to Canada to pursue a PhD in Dental Sciences (2002-2007) and a MPH (2010-2012) at UBC Faculties of Dentistry and Medicine. 

Mario heads the MPH/Dental Public Health combined program at UBC, coordinates the UBC undergraduate module in dental geriatrics for the DMD program and teaches within the dental hygiene program. His areas of research include community dentistry, HIV, dental geriatrics, dental education, and issues around marginalization and health inequalities.
