Alberta Wellness Summit: What Types of Risk Do I Need to Be Concerned About & Why?
This spring, the Alberta Dental Association and College kicks off a brand-new conference in Calgary. The Alberta Wellness Summit, happening May 23-25, will take specific focus on dentists’ physical, mental, and financial wellness. This summit includes activities like walks and hikes in the beautiful Bow River Valley, and even morning yoga before sessions begin. Today, we speak with Dr. Troy Basarab, Periodontist and President-elect of the Alberta Dental Association and College. Dr. Basarab completed his DDS from the University of Alberta in 1991. After graduation he purchased a dental practice in Edmonton, Alberta where he practiced general dentistry and served as a Clinical Instructor in Removable Prosthodontics and in Periodontics at the University of Alberta. Dr. Basarab returned to graduate school in 1994 and completed a MS in Periodontology at the University of Michigan School of Dentistry. He returned to Alberta setting up a periodontal specialty practice in Lethbridge, Alberta in 1997 where he has been practicing ever since. Dr. Basarab completed an MBA in 2011 from Athabasca University. He is a past president of the Canadian Academy of Periodontology and is the current President-Elect of the Alberta Dental Association and College. During his MBA he completed elective concentrations in entrepreneurship and change management.
