The inauguration of the new JDR Clinical & Translational Research

Dr. Jocelyne Feine, Professor at McGill University, spoke with Dr. John O’Keefe about the new JDR Clinical & Translational Research Journal.  

Dr. Jocelyne Feine is a Professor in the Oral Health and Society Research Unit at the Faculty of Dentistry, McGill University. She is a recognized world leader in the assessment of therapies for chronic orofacial conditions, particularly pain and tooth loss. Her national and international studies emphasize the quality of life and patient-based outcomes most relevant for palliative therapeutic goals. From randomized clinical trials to technology assessment, knowledge transfer and health care management, her work covers the continuum of discovery to action. She has published widely in high quality research and clinical journals.

Interview Highlights

• JDR Clinical & Translational Research is a peer-reviewed journal from the IADR/AADR that is dedicated to publishing original dental, oral and craniofacial research at the interface between discovery science and clinical application.
• The new journal will emphasize translation of research into healthcare delivery systems at the individual patient, clinical practice, and community levels.
• JDR Clinical & Translational Research will provide authors and readers an additional outlet for clinical and translational research beyond the capacity of the clinical research reports that will continue in IADR/AADR’s flagship publication, Journal of Dental Research.
• In addition to the more common methodologies and study designs used in oral health research, JDR Clinical & Translational Research will offer opportunities for publication of reports on qualitative, mixed methods, health services, health technology assessment and participatory research studies.
• The journal will focus on research topics that are relevant and applicable to the community (researchers, clinicians, patients, licensing boards, public health and policymakers). To determine the most relevant topics for researchers to address, feedback from the community will be encouraged and facilitated.
