Dr. John O’Keefe spoke with Dr. Jack Cottrell, member of FDI Council, about FDI activities during the Federation’s mid-year meetings which were recently held in Mexico City.

Highlights
- FDI mid-year meetings are an important milestone for FDI and an opportunity to meet face to face with some of the most critical members, such as those on the Executive, the Finance Committee, FDI Council, and Committee Chairs.
- During the meetings, achievements over the last 2 to 3 years were reviewed. Following a somewhat difficult financial period, FDI is now focusing on its core activities and capitalizing on the value the Federation provides to its members.
- Also, the 3-year strategic plan was reviewed and discussed; identifying what was done well and planning to deal with areas of improvement.
- FDI wants to expand its member services by listening to its members, meeting their needs, and providing them with the tools that make them successful.
- FDI is working hard at establishing better communication, knowledge transfer, and vocalizing its advocacy efforts so that its member associations understand what the Federation is doing on their behalf in the worldwide arena. FDI has developed channels of communication with global organizations, such as the World Health Organization, the World Health Professions Alliance, and the United Nations.
- Reminder: FDI World Congress is to be held in New Delhi, India, in mid September.
