The Role of Dental Professionals in the Fight Against HPV-Related Oropharyngeal Cancer

Human Papillomavirus (HPV) has long been known for its association with cervical cancer, but in recent years, the incidence of HPV-related oropharyngeal cancers has been rising both globally and in Canada.

In this CDA Oasis discussion, Dr. Deborah Saunders, Medical Director of Dental Oncology at Health Sciences North and lead of the Ontario Dentists Working Group on HPV Vaccination, discusses the link between HPV and oropharyngeal cancer and outlines the role dentists can play in prevention.

Dr. Saunders will be co-presenting a live CE session, How to Counsel Your Patients on HPV Cancer Prevention, at the upcoming Ontario Dental Association (ODA) Annual Spring Meeting this Friday, May 8.
