Managing Root Caries in Frail Older Adults

As our population ages, dental professionals are increasingly called upon to address the unique oral health challenges faced by frail older adults. Among the most pressing of these is root caries, a condition that not only undermines dental function and comfort but also has the potential to significantly impact an individual’s quality of life.

In this CDA Oasis presentation, Dr. Nicholas Tong, Assistant Professor of Teaching at the UBC Faculty of Dentistry, Division of Dental Geriatrics, shares practical clinical techniques for managing root caries in older adults. He also offers guidance on treating patients with behavioural and psychological symptoms of dementia.
