Tobacco Intervention for Dental Practitioners

January 15-21 is National Non-Smoking Week, an annual campaign to educate Canadians on the dangers of smoking and to help support tobacco users in quitting smoking.

To mark the occasion, Dr. Deborah Saunders, program lead for the Northeast Cancer Centre Clinical Tobacco Intervention Program, highlights the key role healthcare workers play in helping patients quit smoking and introduces a tobacco intervention course specifically designed for dental professionals.

“After this course the dentist will gain the necessary armamentarium and tools to feel more comfortable and confident in prescribing principles for pharmacotherapy and nicotine replacements.”
