CDA @ Work: Dr. Gary MacDonald attended the Health Canada – WHO roundtable on maternal and child health that took place on May 30, 2014 hosted by the Hon. Rona Ambrose and Dr. Margaret Chan, Director General, from the World Health Organization.

 

 

Dr. Gerald Smith of Thunder Bay, the new ODA President

Dr. Gerald Smith of Thunder Bay is the new ODA president for 2014-2015. A graduate of the University of Toronto’s Faculty of Dentistry, Dr. Smith has practised in Thunder Bay for the past 27 years and is a staff dentist at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre. Dr. Smith’s desire to enter the field of dentistry grew out of a childhood conviction that his interest in science and biology could lead to a profession in health care.

Pathways to Health Equity for Aboriginal Peoples: Implementation Research Team Grants – Component 1

Pathways is a CIHR Signature Initiative with an overall goal to develop a better understanding of how to design, implement and scale up population health interventions that will improve First Nations, Inuit and Métis health in four exemplar areas: Suicide Prevention, Diabetes/Obesity, Tuberculosis, and Oral Health.

The Dalhousie symposium on light curing wraps up

More than 40 internationally reputable light-curing experts gathered in Halifax last week for a light curing symposium organized by Dr. Richard Price at Dalhousie University.

 

The Nordic Institute on Dental Materials (NIOM) joins Oasis Discussions

We are pleased to announce the participation of the Nordic Institute on Dental Materials (NIOM) as a contributor on Oasis Discussions. NIOM is a joint Nordic biomaterial science institute, working to promote patient safety. The Institute undertakes research, materials testing, standardisation and research-based consulting directed towards health authorities and dental health services in the Nordic countries. Their research and consulting are required to be scientifically founded and applicable to clinical dentistry.
