SHINE Dentistry: Students Facilitating Access to Oral Care

SHINE (Student Health Initiative for the Needs of Edmonton) Dental Clinic is a student run organization established through the University of Alberta and the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry. The organization provides dental care for youth in need at no cost to our patients and is entirely supported by our annual golf tournament fundraiser and volunteers from the dental community of Edmonton.  Navi Bharj, the podcast presenter meets with two students, Travis McLean and Andrew Hoang, who contribute to SHINE and see its advantage, first hand, in providing access to oral care. A new digital resource: Dental Radiography, A quick reference guide for intraoral images, by Dr Anthea Senior

The September 9th edition of the News Bites included a news item about a new interactive radiography manual, authored by Dr. Anthea Senior, Clinical Associate professor in the radiology department in the School of Dentistry at the University of Alberta. The aim of the e-book is for students to have a quick reference guide to review before lab sessions and before they would take their first radiograph on patients.
