Dr. Alain Moreau New Director of the Network for Canadian Oral Health Research (NCOHR)

Dr. Alain Moreau has been appointed Director of the Network for Canadian Oral Health Research (NCOHR) for a three-year term commencing effective October 1st, 2016. Dr. Moreau will play a pivotal leadership role in ensuring the sustainability of the Network, and its’ continued work to increase capacity in and ongoing support for oral health research in Canada. Updated Statistics on Periodontal Disease Confirm High Adult Prevalence of Periodontitis in the US

A new CDC report authored by Dr. Paul Eke and colleagues entitled, “Update on Prevalence of Periodontitis in Adults in the United States: NHANES 2009-2012,” published by the Journal of Periodontology confirms an earlier analysis that found a high level of prevalence of periodontitis in the U.S. adult population. Context The report describes prevalence, severity, and extent of periodontitis in the US adult population using combined data from the 2009 to 2010 and 2011 to 2012 cycles of the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES).   At a recent meeting in Ottawa, the Board of the Canadian Dental Association confirmed that the Association is committed to scholarly publishing and voted to continue publication of the Journal of the Canadian Dental Association (JCDA), with a clear focus on original articles that contribute to the body of knowledge of the dental profession.
