Dr. Lynn Tomkins Recaps CDA’s Days on the Hill 2022

From May 9 to May 13, 2022, the Canadian Dental Association (CDA) hosted its annual Days on the Hill advocacy event. CDA representatives met with key decision-makers and political leaders to discuss matters to promote and help advance the oral health of Canadians and the dental profession in Canada.

In this video, CDA president, Dr. Lynn Tomkins, highlights the importance of the event and reports on the key issues that landed on this year’s agenda including, the federal dental care plan, progress of women in dentistry, concerns over shortages of dental assistants, and recommendations on oral health for seniors in long-term care facilities.

The event consisted of over 30 meetings with Parliamentarians including:

      • The Honourable Jean-Yves Duclos, Minister of Health
      • Leader of the NDP, Jagmeet Singh
      • MP Darren Fisher
      • Senator Patti LaBoucane-Benson
      • The Honourable Candice Bergen, Leader of the Official Opposition

“Building on the experience of 2021, we were able to get more meetings with more stakeholders – more ministers, more senators, and more key decision-makers.”
