Federal Budget 2022 Response

On April 7, 2022, as part of the House of Commons Budget 2022: A Plan to Grow Our Economy and Make Life More Affordable, the federal government announced proposed funding of $5.3 billion over five years to Health Canada to provide dental care for low-income Canadians. The proposal is the first of its kind for dental health care in Canada.

In this video, Dr. Richard Holden, President of the Canadian Dental Association, responds to the government announcement by outlining CDA’s position on the proposed dental care plan, and suggests that the best way for the federal government to increase access to care is to invest in existing provincial and territorial programs across Canada.

"We want to make sure that this is directed towards the 33% of Canadians who don't have good access to dental care."
