Every year on March 20th, the FDI World Dental Federation asks the world to unite on World Oral Health Day (WOHD) to help reduce the burden of oral disease and empower people with the knowledge, tools and confidence to promote good oral health.
Oral disease is a major health concern in many countries across the world that often leads to pain, discomfort, social isolation and loss of self-confidence, as well as being linked to other serious health issues. This year’s focus is on the importance of oral health in promoting happiness and wellbeing.
In this video, Dr. Richard Holden, President of the Canadian Dental Association (CDA), discusses the important role WOHD plays in raising awareness and the influence it has on dental practise across Canada and the world. He also talks about the Mouth Proud Challenge, a WOHD social media initiative he is participating in as part of CDA’s week-long campaign to draw attention to the importance of taking care of your oral health.
