Smart Technology for Dentistry: A Call for Projects by NCOHR-MEDTEQ+

Over the last two years, COVID-19 restrictions have had extraordinary impacts on healthcare delivery across the globe. The advent of teledentistry and the virtual appointment have changed aspects of dental practise and accelerated the need for developing smart technologies so that remote oral healthcare can function effectively and efficiently in the future.

In response to this demand, the Network for Canadian Oral Health Research (NCOHR) and MEDTEQ+, the industrial consortium for research and innovation in medical technologies in Canada, have announced a request for proposals for projects with potential commercial and clinical viability in the area of virtual appointment tools provided as a service to dental public health and the clinical practise of dentistry.

In this video, Professor Paul Santerre, Professor of Biomaterials at the Faculty of Dentistry, University of Toronto, outlines the objectives of this ambitious initiative, and highlights some of the challenges which he hopes the project will overcome.

Requests for proposals are open to researchers within the NCOHR network, as well as companies or clinicians who wish to collaborate with researchers within the NCOHR network.
