Supporting Your Practice

Portraying the Cyber Threat Landscape

In the hyperconnected world of 2020, cyber threats are a genuine cause for concern in any business, and the dental office is no exception. Malware, ransomware, form-jacking and phishing scams, all pose a very real and present threat to personal and patient data.

In this episode of CDA Oasis Live, Dr. John O’Keefe, Director of Knowledge Networks CDA, talks to Dr. Ian Furst, an oral maxillofacial surgeon and a passionate advocate for cybersecurity in healthcare settings.

Dr. Furst highlights the most common threats to dental offices today, and offers valuable advice on what dentists can do to protect their practices.

“Dentists are aware of the risk and are scared it will happen to their practice, but they feel helpless in being able to do anything about it. The gap is in knowing what to do.”

We have a sacrificial cell phone. All emails are opened on the cell phone. If they are not legit, we delete them on the cell phone. We can then log into the email on the office computer are proceed. So far, so good.
