CARDP Roundtable – Relative Intrusion of an Implant-Supported Restoration

Relative intrusion of an implant-supported restoration occurs when a maxillary anterior implant acts as an ankylosed tooth and the adjacent natural teeth migrate due to facial changes and passive or active eruption. Though the intrusion varies in severity, it occurs to some degree in all cases, irrespective of how well the implant restoration has been executed.

In this latest edition of Oasis CARDP Roundtable, Dr. Oliver Pin-Harry, a prosthodontist from Burlington ON, walks through a series of case studies and fields questions from expert panelists, Dr. Doug Hamilton, Dr. Deb Schwartz and Dr. Shammick Kotecha.

Dr. Pin-Harry highlights the incidence and predictability of the condition, and discusses prevention, treatment and the importance of clearly communicating expectations to the patient.
