Antibiotic Awareness Week: Think Twice. Seek Advice.

Antimicrobials are life savers. They have reduced the economic, medical, and social burden of infectious diseases and are part of many routine medical interventions.

However, unnecessary antibiotic use is contributing to a rise in resistant bacteria, making infections much harder, and increasingly impossible to treat. Antibiotic Awareness Week, November 18 – 24, promotes the informed use of antibiotics by all to help keep life-saving medicines effective for future generations.

There are various resources that can help you speak to your patients about this issue and the unnecessity of prescribing antibiotics for most dental procedures.

Check the Antibiotic Awareness Week Campaign Website for more information.
