CDA – SK 2019 Convention: Therapeutic Cannabis Use and Nutrition for Stress

We’re so excited to bring emerging science and health topics to attendees of the upcoming CDA-CDSS Convention happening this fall in Saskatoon between September 12 and 14, 2019. This gathering, delivered in collaboration with the College of Dental Surgeons of Saskatchewan, features sessions and workshops on new and emerging topics like self-care, nutrition-based stress reduction, and an introduction to cannabis use for therapeutic purposes.

Today, we’re talking with Margaret Sung, RHN, CHt, a nutritionist and hypnotherapist about her two sessions.

During this Oasis conversation, Margaret previews her convention session on stress and nutrition including:

  • The principles and practices of holistic nutrition and how they can help us reach our health goals.
  • How holistic nutrition fits into the world of dentistry.
  • Using nutrition to alleviate stress and understanding how food and our bodies interact at a chemical level.
  • What happens in our bodies when we eat certain types of food.
  • Types of stress we experience and how to identify address our own specific and unique stress symptoms.
  • Key session takeaways for those who attend.

This Oasis conversation also includes a discussion about Margaret’s second talk about the therapeutic effects of cannabis, specifically:

  • Thinking about cannabis within the dentistry context.
  • Methods of consumption including oil, food, capsule and the like.
  • Understanding the basic science and therapeutic qualities of cannabis
  • Side effects and risks to be aware of and understanding how to safely and legally obtain cannabis.
  • Sourcing medical cannabis versus legal, recreation cannabis and understanding interprovincial regulation.
  • Where to direct patients and clients who have questions about cannabis.
