This dental education module was prepared by Dr. Mark Donaldson, who generously offers this material free of charge to his fellow Canadian colleagues. Although in my conversation with Dr. Aaron Burry, we refer to the module as a “continuing education module/course”, the content of the module does not qualify you for CE points. You are welcome to download and use the content as you need; and to take the exam/quiz which is available at the end of the module. However, CDA Oasis will not offer any CE points for studying the module.
Dr. Aaron Burry, is Associate Director of Professional Affairs at the Canadian Dental Association, and in this video, he provides an overview of the module and highlights the main points that practitioners should consider when dealing with the issue of cannabis and dentistry.
Below is a linked Table of Contents that will guide you through the various components of the module. Tables and Figures are also linked and included in the related sections of the module.
We hope you find the content of the module beneficial. Please let us know of any missing references or broken links.
We also would like to hear from you and know your thoughts and questions about this topic. If you wish to reach us, it’s quite easy: email us at oasisdiscussions@cda-adc.ca or call our toll-free number 1-855-716-2747.
Until next time!

Thank you for posting this timely and interesting article in the format of a continuing dental education module. I completely cannot understand why it does not qualify for continuing education credits? To me, this rejection of the content to qualify for credits is ludicrous. If indeed marijuana is a drug that has long been demonized by the powers that be, and has now been legalized, shouldn’t dentists know about its implications in our society at large and particularly in our dental practices?!
