I spoke with Alex Zlatin, founder and Executive Director of the The Dental Office Managers Association of Canada. Alex and his colleagues identified a need to standardize the work of dental office managers and decided to provide these valuable team members with training and certification that will allow them to carry out their responsibilities in a better and more efficient way. Alex is also chief executive officer of Maxident, a dental practice management software company. “The association aims to create a community of like-minded individuals who are passionate about managing a dental practice. If you want to be part of that community and share ideas, best practices, and challenges, the association would be the place for you to become a member. Membership is free, so there are no strings attached.
Another element is: if you are an office manager, you would want to take pride in what you do. You would want to be formally certified as a professional in your specialty. So, the association will allow you to achieve that as well. And, the third and most important element is having access to experts in their field of specialty, having subject matter experts that you can connect with to get the answers to your questions and challenges.
