Dr. Maxine Feinberg: My Visit to Dalhousie University

Dr. John O’Keefe spoke with Dr. Maxine Feinberg, past president of the American Dental Association and Periodontist from New Jersey, about her recent visit to Dalhousie University. Dr. Feinberg was touched by the warm welcome and impressed by the professionalism and the level of support and camaraderie that she and her colleagues witnessed at the Faculty of Dentistry.

Highlights

  • Dr. Maxine Feinberg visited the Faculty of Dentistry at Dalhousie University among a group that supervises the administration of the ADEX exam to American students studying dentistry in Canada. 
  • The American Board Dental Examiners (ADEX) Dental Examination is administered by the Commission on Dental Competency Assessments (CDCA) in the Curriculum Integrated Format (CIF) for senior dental students and in the Traditional format for all other candidates. ADEX is an organization that is governed by States Boards of Dentistry. Member States of ADEX send representatives from their board of dentistry to represent them in the governance of ADEX and to the myriad of committees, subcommittees and Ad Hoc committees that create the essence of ADEX. 
  • Dalhousie University has a reciprocal agreement with the State of Maine to allow American students to pursue their dentistry degree in Canada. 
  • Dr. Feinberg noted the warmth of the welcome from the faculty, staff, and students, and the great sense of community and level of support that was provided to the American students who were taking the exam.
