It is always a pleasure to welcome Dr. Jack Cottrell, dentist from Port Perry, ON, and Treasurer at the World Dental Federation (FDI). Dr. Cottrell spoke about World Oral Health Day 2018 and the importance of promoting and sustaining oral health as well as facilitating the conversation between dentists and patients about their oral health.
I hope you enjoy the conversation and visit the WOHD website. A variety of good resources in multiple languages is available for the dentist, the dental team and the patient.
As usual, we welcome your thoughts, questions, and suggestions! We’d love to hear from you at firstname.lastname@example.org
Until next time!
World Oral Health Day (WOHD) is celebrated globally every year on 20 March. It is organized by FDI World Dental Federation and is the largest global awareness campaign on oral health. WOHD spreads messages about good oral hygiene practices to adults and children alike and demonstrates the importance of optimal oral health in maintaining general health and well-being. Each year, WOHD focuses on a specific theme and reaches out to the public, oral health professionals, and policymakers, who all have a role to play in helping reduce the burden of oral disease.
This year’s campaign is titled: ‘Say Ahh: Think Mouth, Think Health.’ A healthy mouth and a healthy body go hand in hand. Maintaining a healthy mouth is crucial to keeping it functioning correctly and for maintaining overall health and quality of life. ‘Say Ahh: Think Mouth, Think Health’ empowers you to keep a healthy mouth and helps you maintain your general health and well-being.
Use the resources to show your support for World Oral Health Day, whether you’re organizing an event or simply spreading the word among family and friends.
