I had the pleasure to host Dr. Gerald Smith, spokesperson for the ongoing campaign the Ontario Dental Association is holding to ensure adequate funding for the Healthy Smiles Ontario program.

Dr. Smith is a general dentist from Thunder Bay, ON. He has been an active member of ODA, contributing to various committees and becoming the ODA president in 2014.

Highlights

The Ontario Dental Association (ODA) has developed a public campaign focused on children and Healthy Smiles Ontario (HSO), a government-funded dental program that provides free preventive, routine, and emergency dental services for children and youth 17 years old and under from low-income households in Ontario. The campaign emphasizes the important role dental care plays for Ontario’s children, underscores the sizeable contributions dentists have been making to ensure HSO continues to work, and calls on the government to step up in its commitment to the program.

The campaign began on February 5, 2018, with strategic placement of advertisements in communities around Ontario, on billboards, transit, online, radio, and provincial and local newspapers.
