Dr. Jocelyne Feine Recipient of the Norton M. Ross Award

Dr. Jocelyne Feine is the 2016 recipient of the prestigious Norton M. Ross award, awarded by the American Dental Association. The award is bestowed on investigators whose research has significant impact on some aspect of clinical dentistry.

Dr. Feine is Professor at McGill University Faculty of Dentistry in Montreal and the inaugural editor-in-chief of the Journal of Dental Research (JDR) Clinical & Translational Research.

Highlights

This award is presented to researchers whose work has had a significant impact on some aspect of clinical dentistry. Dr. Feine is the third female recipient of this award.

Dr. Norton M. Ross was both a dentist and pharmacologist who spent the majority of his career in academics and research. He had a profound influence on the public’s oral health. This impressive award recognizes innovation and creativity in clinical research. Thus, it encourages researchers to seek new methodologies, view issues in different ways and make new contributions to the field.

Dr. Feine hopes to continue her implantology research to find the minimum number of implants to support a lower prosthesis so that it is cost effective and less invasive for patients. Additionally, she would like to see dentistry and family medicine work together to promote overall health and well-being. Physicians should be able to provide oral examinations for patients and encourage them to seek dental care. Also, MDs should understand the effects that the medications prescribed to patients have on their oral health. Dr. Feine also seeks to further develop the JDRCTR.
