CDA Appearance at the Standing Committee on Immigration

cda logo 2On May 31, Dr. Randall Croutze appeared before the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Citizenship and Immigration as a witness to speak about the settlement of Syrian refugees, and specifically about the Interim Federal Health Program.

Dr. Croutze provided a brief opening statement that focused on an overview of what the program covers, the limitations of the program, feedback from members of the provincial associations who are dealing with the program, and suggestions on how to improve program efficiencies.

The presentation was well received, and the Committee’s follow up questions focused on the list of services provided, how to make efficiencies, and what happens to patients after their eligibility expires. The Committee requested that the CDA follow up with a brief outlining where there are issues with the IFHP, and suggested program improvements.
