On November 7, the Pierre Fauchard Academy conferred the Elmer S. Best Award for 2015 on Dr. John O’Keefe, CDA Director of Knowledge Networks, at an awards ceremony in Washington, DC. The award is the Academy’s pinnacle honour for dentists who reside outside the United States of America. Dr. O’Keefe is the 9th Canadian to receive this award since its introduction in 1962.
During the induction ceremony, the Academy’s Gold Medal was conferred on Dr. Henry Gremillion, dean of the Faculty of Dentistry at Louisiana State University, the Straumann dental implant company received the Dental Trade and Industry Recognition Award, and Professor P-I Brånemark was inducted posthumously into the Academy’s Hall of Fame.
According to the Elmer S. Best award citation, Dr. O’Keefe received the award for his dedication to excellence in the provision of information services, building a sense of professional community and advancing dentistry to the highest level. Dr. O’Keefe is quick to attribute his receipt of this award to the forward looking leadership at CDA and to a dedicated and professional CDA Knowledge Networks team who are keen to be on the leading edge of modern communications with a professional community.
The CDA Knowledge Networks team created a short video tribute that introduced Dr. O’Keefe to attendees at the PFA awards ceremony:
