Speaking of volunteers, Dr. Carlos Flores-Mir of the University of Alberta was recently recognized for having reviewed 100 manuscripts for the premier orthodontic journal. He even finds time to review for the JCDA. We salute Carlos and all other reviewers of manuscripts.

The BC Dental Association is calling for nominations of BC dentists who could be considered for awards for service to the profession and the community.

Canada’s dental schools are heavily involved in enhancing access to care for those most in need. The University of Saskatchewan has a new satellite clinic, and UBC was recently written up in the Williams Lake local newspaper for a First Nations outreach initiative.

The Public Health Agency of Canada has re-opened its Canadian Best Practices Portal and you can find lots of solid information about how to promote oral health by consulting the oral health section of the portal…

Dalhousie University dentistry group recognized for excellence in demonstrating the impact of their research work. The Dalhousie Group entry “The Inconvenient Tooth: Making Room for Influential Voice to Inform Research” was included in a recent national publication titled Celebrating the Impact of Health Research.
